Your private information stays private.

What you do in the Maius desktop apps happens on your own computer. Your conversations, prompts, your agents' work and your files stay there, and go straight from your computer to the model or service you chose — Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for Codex, or another provider whose key you added. They are not sent to us and we do not receive them.

One exception, which you choose. If you open the deck on your phone away from home through our relay, the traffic between your phone and your computer passes through a server we operate for as long as the connection lasts. We do not store it, and it is protected in transit, but while it passes we could technically read it. If you open the deck over your own private network instead (for example Tailscale), nothing passes through us.

World Search sends what you search for to search engines. That is what a search is, but the sentence above would otherwise suggest nothing leaves your computer except what goes to your AI provider. When you use Tools → World Search, or approve an agent to search, your query goes from your computer to the engines you have enabled, under their privacy policies. Results and the pages you open are fetched the same way. We do not receive your searches, and nothing is stored by us; if you connect your own search account the terms of that account apply as well.

Translating a page sends that page to a translator. Asking for a result page in another language sends its text to the translation service to be translated, and back. Do not translate a page you would not hand to a third party.

Chatting with other Maius users is different, and you should know how

Everything above says your work stays on your computer. Chat is the one part that does not, and it is not a technicality. When you message another Maius user, the message is stored on our server until they collect it — it has to be, because their Mac is very often switched off when you write. That is the opposite of the relay described above, which holds nothing and only forwards while you are connected.

So we can read what you send in chat. We do not, and we have no interest in it, but we are not going to tell you it is impossible when it is not. It is stored on infrastructure we control, protected in transit and at rest, and reachable only by the people in the conversation — and by us. If you would not put something in an email, do not put it in Maius chat.

Files and skills you send are stored the same way. A file you attach, and a skill you send someone, are kept in our storage until the message is deleted. They are served only to people in that conversation, after we check they are in it.

Deleting really deletes. There is one copy of a message, so deleting it removes it for everyone in the conversation, not just from your screen, and the attached file or skill is removed from our storage at the same time. You can only delete your own messages.

A skill somebody sends you is a proposal, not an installation. A skill is instructions your agent would follow, so nothing is written to your computer, and nothing is readable by any agent, until you accept it — and installing is a second, separate press after that. What gets installed is checked first and is recorded with a note saying who sent it and that nobody on your machine wrote it. Treat a skill from another person the way you would treat a program from another person.

Joining a group does not hand you its past. If someone adds you to a group or project, you see what is said from the moment you joined, not what was said before.

If you close your account, your messages stay with the people you sent them to, because they are their conversations too. Your name is replaced with “a former Maius user” and your friendships are removed.

Chat is between people who have both agreed: nobody can message you, add you to a group or send you a file until you have accepted them as a friend, and blocking them stops it.

What we collect

• Chat messages, and the files and skills sent with them. Held until delivered and kept so the conversation has a history, then removed when a message is deleted. See the section above — this is the one part of Maius we can read.
• Your account. Your email address, and a name if you give one, so we can sign you in, deliver downloads and licences, send receipts and answer support.
• Orders and payments. Transaction references, amounts, payment status and invoices. Stripe holds your card; we never receive the full card number or its security code. If you gave us a card before 25 October 2026, Stripe still stores it; we will not charge it without asking you first, and you can have it removed at any time by contacting support.
• API keys you choose to store with us. If you connect a key once so that all your Maius apps can use it, we store that key encrypted and hand it only to your own apps, on Macs linked to your account. The same applies to an Anthropic API key you give a hosted plan. We never store a Claude subscription sign-in.
• Linked Macs. Which Macs are linked to your account, the name each shows, and when each was last used, so you can see them and unlink any.
• Google, if you connect it here. If you connect a Google account at maius-ai.com, we store an encrypted refresh token and the permissions you granted, so the connection keeps working until you disconnect it.
• Hosted plans. If you rent a machine we run, your agents work on it and their workspace is kept only as your plan says. It is deleted when you close your account.
• Technical. Ordinary server logs, held by our hosting provider for a short period.

Your business accounts, in the desktop apps

Some Maius apps work with accounts you already have — Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, your Google Business Profile, Gmail, Shopify and Square. They are reached from your Mac with the permission you give. What is read from them (sales, orders, posts, reviews, messages) is used only to do the job you asked for: the app sends what that job needs to the model you use, directly from your Mac, and nowhere else. It is not sent to us, not sold, not used for advertising, and we do not use it to train AI models. The credentials for these accounts are kept on your Mac, not with us. Disconnecting an account in the app deletes them, and you can also remove the app's access in that platform's own settings.

Maius's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

The hosted plan

If you choose a hosted plan, your agents run on a machine we operate instead of on your own computer. That machine is yours alone — one per customer — and its disk is wiped when it stops. On plans with saved storage, your workspace files are copied to our storage before the machine stops and restored when it starts; on plans without, nothing is kept between sessions. Your Claude sign-in and any accounts you connect are stored encrypted, under a secret kept apart from the database. Your conversations still go from that machine directly to the AI provider you chose; we do not read them, and our administrators reach a hosted machine only to fix a problem you have asked us about or to protect the service. Closing your account stops the machine and deletes the saved workspace and the stored sign-ins.

Who else sees it

• Cloudflare hosts maius-ai.com, its database, stored files and hosted machines.
• Stripe processes payments and stores cards.
• Resend sends our emails.
• Google, if you sign in with Google or connect a Google account. When an authorised administrator connects Google Drive, order and invoice documents may be written to that administrator's Drive; credentials and card details never are.
• The model and platform providers you choose in the apps receive what those apps send them, directly from your Mac, under their own terms.

Some of these are outside Australia, chiefly in the United States. We do not sell your information and we do not share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Your account, stored keys, linked Macs and connections: until you remove them or close your account. Payment, order and licence records: seven years, as tax law requires. Server logs: the short period set by our hosting provider.

Deleting it

You can remove a stored key, unlink a Mac, disconnect Google or close your account yourself, and closing it deletes everything above except the records the law makes us keep. What the desktop apps keep on your Mac is yours to delete there. The Data deletion page says exactly how.

Security

Stored keys and tokens are encrypted, under secrets kept apart from the database, so a copy of the database alone does not reveal them. Customer and administrator records are separated by role; administrators see what they need for fulfilment, support and payment reconciliation. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm we will tell you and the regulator, as the law requires.

Automated decisions

Agents do things because you asked and, for anything outside their folder, because you approved it — those are your decisions, recorded on your computer. We use automated checks on our own systems to limit sign-in attempts, detect payment fraud and enforce plan limits; these can delay or block an action but do not make decisions with legal effect about you without a person able to review them. If an automated check affects you and you think it is wrong, contact us and a person will look.

Children

Maius is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and we do not design features for them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Email leo@ozeki.com.au. If you are unhappy with our answer you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
